Vineyards: Grown on the Northern Rhone Valley, the appellation spreads of 11 villages surrounding Tain l’Hermitage. Soils consist of granite, fluvio-glacial alluvium, and stone terraces or loess. Climate is continental with a Mediterranean influence.
Viticulture & Vinification: Careful selection of grapes depending on origin, maturity and quality of grape. All grapes are destemmed. Cold maceration before fermentation and vatting with soft extraction methods. Malolactic fermentation completed in vats.
Winemaker’s Notes: Deep, intense color with purple hints. Bouquet evoking ripe black fruits, with intensity and elegance. Rich, full, well-structured palate with flavors of ripe blackberry and blackcurrant, a delicate touch of violet and licorice. Remarkable balance between the freshness of the “cool climate Syrah” and the savory ripeness, hallmark of the 2015 vintage. Pair with grilled meats – beef rib, loin of lamb, duck cutlet; meat stews – Beef Bourguignon and casserole; game – saddle of hare, young wild boar chops, rabbit stew; and highly seasoned cheeses.
