Description
Today, Chateau La Croix Saint Andre stands out among the wines of the region, due to the potential of its terroir, whose characteristics are similar to those of the Pomerol plateau, and also to the grape varieties that have been planted and the age of the vines (some are more than 50 years old!). The Carayon family have owned the property since 1965.
35 year old vines, 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc
Wine Making: Manual harvests. Maturing in barrels for twelve months, with 25% new barrels each year.
Tasting Notes: Appealing ruby hue. Pleasant, fruit-forward nose with cherry and redcurrant-like aromas. The palate combines freshness, silkiness and balance. An expressive, enjoyable wine that is already open and can be savored from now on.
Food Pairing: Serve with chicken cooked with mushroom, game, cheese.
92 Points, Wine Enthusiast – “This perfumed wine with mint and eucalyptus aromas is structured and firm. Its red fruits and ripe berry flavors are integrated into strong tannins. With wood aging and balance, the wine will age well. Drink from 2022.”
