Description
Chateau Musar first started producing the Musar Jeune range of wines in 2006 from the fruit of low-yielding Bekka Valley vines at around 1,000 meters about sea level. Altitude keeps the average temperature at 25C with hot sunny days, cool nights, and 300 days of sunshine a year, which ripens the grapes to perfection.
It is unoaked and made according to Musar’s natural non-interventionist winemaking philosophy, Musar Jeune wines are vibrantly fruity, richly concentrated and this vintage is no exception.
This vintage is a blend of Cinsault, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Harvesting began during the last week of August, 2015. It fermented in concrete vats at temperatures between 27-29C. It was blended in March 2016, then rested in concrete vats before being bottled during the summer of 2016.
This vintage is a dark deep red color with aromas of black olives, leather and a hint of violets; along with obvious notes of cigar box and dark chocolate. the palate shows a lot of concentration with a velvety feeling. It has flavors of mature red cherries with a taste of black olives reminiscent of the aroma and showing the domination of the Syrah variety. A lot of spices with thyme and oregano and a hint of black pepper, with a long after taste of dark chocolate.
45% Cinsault, 45% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon
