Bargemone is among the foremost estates of the Coteaux d’Aix appellation of Provence. Founded by Templar knights of the 13th century, the Commanderie is home to a proud viticultural tradition and more than 160 acres of sustainably grown vineyards.
Vineyards: 163 acres under vine, with 138 acres red varieties (Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Counoise) and 25 acres white varieties (Grenache Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Ugni Blanc, and Rolle (Vermentino)). Stony, clay/limestone soils *in conversion to organic farming, certifited QualiSud.
Composition: 50% Rolle, 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Ugni Blanc
Viticulture & Vinification: Yields of 4 tons/acre. Vines average 30+ years in age, except for the Rolle, from new 3 to 6 year old vineyards. Harvested very early in the morning to preserve freshness. Settled for 48 hours at 54 degrees (F), followed by 10 days fermentation at 57 degrees (F). No malolactic conversion. Vinified entirely in stainless steel tanks.
Tasting Notes: This classic, unoaked white is light, crisp and refreshing, offering aromas of lemon oil, sage, and verbena, with a light mineral character and a long, clean finish. Enjoy this versatile wine on its own or with a wide range of simple salads, fish, or shellfish (especially sushi, freshly-shucked oysters, sole, or grilled calamari).
