Description
87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot
Summit View Vineyard sits at a northeastern slope, 1,200-ft. in elevation on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla Valley. Planted in 2009, 67 acres of six Cabernet Sauvignon clones grow in nutrient-rich Ellingford Silt Loam, atop a base of fractured basalt. The vineyard’s location provides excellent air monvement, resulting in frost-free conditions to grow bold yet balanced Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2016 Jolete ‘Summit View’ Cabernet begins with a very inviting nose of baking cocoa, boysenberry, and roasted coffee. The palate follows with violets and black cherry, and hints of black raspberry. Bright acid and chalky tannins give it the structure needed to develop beautifully through at least 2024.
94 Points “…captures the element of wind-driven fruit. Purple flowers and dark purple skins, grippy and vinous. It feels fresh, focused and lean, the texture dominated by invigorating tannins and mouthwatering acid.” – P.J.C., Wine & Spirits.
