In appearance the 2013 Merlot has a deep ruby core moving to a pale ruby at the rim. The nose is fruit forward that highlights a combination of black and red fruit… black cherry, red plum, ripe blackberry along with baking spices of clove and nutmeg. Bright acidity and structured on the palate with grippy tannins and flavors of more blackberry pie, bright cherry and juicy pomegranate that evolve into an earthy midpalate with flavors of turned earth with forest floor before finishing with lingering toasty charcoal and clove.
