Typology of product: Rosso di Montalcino D.O.C.
Area of product: This wonderful wine is produced in the extreme south of Montalcino, between Castelnuovo dell Abatte and Monte Amiate Scalo.
Vineyards: They are below Velona’s Castle and they were planted in the 90’s. They are an example of good grape quality. They are on clay lands.
Vines: Sangiovese Grosso is the most important part of this wine.
Yield per hectare: It is always less than 80 ql of grapes, thanks to the lands’ nature.
Grape harvest: It takes place from the middle of September and finished to the end of the month.
Winemaking: The grapes are carried to the cellar by box and they start winemaking process immediately. After they are put in in a steel inox’s basin, the fermentation process is about 18-24 days.
Refining: After the fermentation, the wine sits for a period of about 12 months in barrels.
