Description
Padrone is created in honor of Ray Signorello Sr., a visionary whose life was as full of character as Signorello wines. It is a seamless integration of supple tannins, intense varietal aromas and rich flavor that expresses the utmost quality of the Estate. The grapes for this proprietary Cabernet Sauvignon are sourced from the best blocks of an extremely rocky hillside vineyard. This is a deeply concentrated wine with layers of complexity designed for extended aging.
100% Napa Valley Estate
91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc
611 cases produced
Triple sorted before de-stemming, then fermented at 90 degrees in stainless steel tanks and pumped over twice daily. Gently pressed at zero brix and aged for 19 months in 100% new oak from Treoncais, Nevers and Alliers and coopered into thin-staved, medium-plus toast Chateau Ferre barrels by coopers Tarransaud, Saury, Darnajou and Nadalie. To preserve fruit intensity and body, the wine was not fined or filtered prior to bottling.
2014 was another early and excellent harvest in the Napa Valley. The 2014-2014 winter was one of the driest of record in California and rainfall totals in the Napa Valley were approximately half of normal. However, the timing could not have been better: heavy rains in late February and early March gave a much needed drink of water to the vines as they were emgering from dormancy and about to begin bud break. An even fruit set created abundant yields; the third large harvest in a row with amazing quality and depth of flavor.
